Rolling back the years with Rockroses' Barnard Castle gig

Posted on December 09, 2016 by Unknown

MUSIC lovers will be rolling back the years for a festive evening at the Parish Hall, in Newgate, Barnard Castle, tonight (Friday, December 9).
The event has been organised by the living history group World War II Operations and Gainford Drama Club and features local band The Rockroses.
Doors open at 7.30pm for an evening of music, dance and Christmas-themed supper. Revellers can bring their own drinks and enjoy the music.
Organiser Iris Hillery said drama club members will be revisiting the 1960s setting of their latest play, Spring and Port Wine while others may choose 1940s, 1950s or even 1970s fashions to dance the night away.
“We enjoy the music of past decades and The Rockroses are such a great band we wanted to bring them to Barnard Castle for a relaxed, enjoyable evening’s entertainment,” she said.
“Some people may want to dress up – there’s a best dressed competition – but basically, anything goes.”
Tickets, priced £10 to cover costs, are available by emailing iris@ajalon.co.uk or calling 07919 344845.
A limited number of tickets may be available on the door.
A raffle will take place on the night to raise funds for the town’s Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.
